堀万里は、自らも楽器を演奏し、音楽が絵画制作と濃密につながり合っている表現者である。音楽家との交流も多く、レコードやCDのジャケットを依頼されたり、すでに描いた作品を提供することもあった。
Mari Hori is an expressionist who plays musical instruments herself and whose music is closely connected to painting. She also interacted with musicians, and was asked to take jackets for records and CDs, and offered works she had already drawn.

久保公二氏は、立川の隣、国分寺市出身のクラシックギタリスト。1987年に発売されたライブアルバムに、堀万里の「スペインの踊り子」が使われた。万里にとっても、スペインの作曲家、タレルガ、アルベニス、ソルは憧れのヒーローであり、登るべき大きな山だった。Koji Kubo is a classic guitarist from Kokubunji City, next to Tachikawa. Mari Hori's "Spanish Dancer" was used for his live album released in 1987. For The Great, the Spanish composers Tarerga, Albéniz and Sol were longing heroes and big mountains to climb.
2009年に結成された、朝鮮学校の生徒たちを支援する「チマチョゴリ友の会」は、毎年11月、府中公園で「朝鮮文化とふれあうつどい」を開催している。そのステージに招かれた在日2世のシンガーソングライター、李政美さんの歌声に心揺さぶられた万里は、2018年発売のＣＤ「おとと ことばと こころで」のジャケットに李さんの肖像画を提供。彼女の強く美しい生き様が凝縮した素晴らしいポートレートである。(画像提供 オフィスとんがらし）Formed in 2009, the Chimachogori Tomo-no-Kai, which supports students of Korean schools, holds a "Contact with Korean Culture" in Fuchu Park every November.Impressed by the singing voice of The Second Generation singer-songwriter LeeJeongmi, who was invited to the stage, Mari provided a portrait of Lee on the jacket of the 2018 CD "Sounds,Words and Minds".It is a wonderful portrait that her strong and beautiful way of life condenses.
ライナーノーツにも、ギターを持つ李政美さんを描いた一枚が使われた。自由への渇望、差別への抗議、生きる喜びの肯定という李さんのメッセージがまっすぐに堀万里の心を貫いたのだ。万里は同志を見つけた思いだっただろう。（画像提供オフィスとんがらし）A piece depicting LeeJeongmi, who holds a guitar, was also used for liner notes. Lee's message of the craving for freedom, the protest against discrimination, and the affirmation of the joy of living straightened through MariHori's mind.It must have been a thought that Mari had found a comrade.
このＣＤにも納められた曲「君 死に給うことなかれ」は、与謝野晶子の詩に李さんが曲をつけたもの。強く共感した万里はすぐにこれを墨書し、手紙に添えて李さんに送っている。表現者二人の手紙のやりとりは何度にもわたった。The song "You Must Not Die" on this CD is a song by Lee on Akiko Yosano's poem. Mari who strongly sympathizes with it wrote this at once, and sent it to Ms. Lee with the letter. The exchange of the letter of two artists extended many times.
