2021年11月、私の母、堀万里が88歳の生涯を閉じました。観るものを一瞬で魅了する作品を、堀万里は売ることに熱心ではありませんでした。2008年に最後の個展を開いてからも、次々に作品を描き続け、一人暮らしの狭い団地の部屋を300枚の絵で満杯に満たしてあの世に旅立った堀万里の作品群は、今も圧倒的な力を発散しています。堀万里の世界を、少しでも多くの方々に知ってもらえたら嬉しいです。

In November 2021, my mother, Mari Hori, closed her life at the age of 88. Mari Hori was not keen to sell works that captivated people with what they saw in an instant. Since opening her last solo exhibition in 2008, she has continued to paint her works one after another, and her works, which have left for the afterlife with 300 paintings filled with 300 paintings in the room of a small housing complex where they live alone, still exude overwhelming power.
