顔立ちや着ているものは時に大きく自由に変えられたが、その人物の本質を描き出そうとする姿勢はいつも一緒だった。The faces and the things the model wore were sometimes changed greatly and freely, but the attitude of trying to depict the essence of the person was always the same.

府中は伝統的な祭りだけでなく、新しい催し物を次々に生み出す街。2009年のジャズの生演奏に魅了された堀万里は、ミュージシャンの群像を次なる目標と考えていた。Fuchu is a city that produces not only traditional festivals but also new events one after another. Fascinated by live jazz music in 2009, Mari Hori considered the group of musicians her next goal.

激しさが一つの特徴である堀万里だが、晩年はこうした微笑ましい子供や幸せそうな瞬間を題材に作品を描いた。お祭りが大好きな彼女らしい作品。One of the characteristics of the intensity is Mari Hori, but in her later years she drew works on these smiling children and happy moments. A work that seems to be her who loves festivals.

お囃子の少年は、墨、水彩、パステルなど、画材を変えながら、数多く描き、色と構成の実験をしながら、たくさんの知人に配っていた。The boy of the musical accompaniment was drew a lot while changing the art material such as ink, the watercolor, and pastel, and was distributed it to a lot of acquaintances while experimenting with the color and the composition.
